Last week, our team attended Insurtech Insights Europe 2025, which brought together over 6,000 industry professionals, including executives, entrepreneurs, and investors, to explore the future of insurance technology.

The two-day conference explored the latest innovations across Insurance and facilitated discussions on emerging trends shaping the industry. Here are the top 5 takeaways you need to know for the coming year.

  1. AI and ML are revolutionising claims processing

By 2025, 50% of insurance claims are expected to be automated using AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) techniques. Integrating these technologies not only enhances fraud detection but also accelerates decision-making, leading to improved customer experiences and cost reductions.

  1. Agentic AI & synthetic teams

AI was a dominant theme at this year’s event, with 25 sessions featuring AI in the title. However, only three focused purely on Agentic AI. One of the standout sessions was delivered by Simon Torrance and his AI Risk team, who hosted a packed workshop on the power and reality of Agentic AI teams in production and in the workforce.

With a queue out the door and 30 minutes of audience questions, the session emphasised that:

  • AI agents are already operating as co-workers alongside human colleagues in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Synthetic teams can remember, learn, and create business strategies for complex tasks while improving customer satisfaction, financial performance, and efficiency KPIs.
  • Open-source LLMs perform effectively with minimal additional training beyond job descriptions and role instructions.
  • AI agents have "personalities" and tend to be highly interactive within teams.
  • Digital twin models vary in effectiveness for different tasks—Mistral excels at audit personas, while Grok maintains a stable personality over time.

Simon Torrance will be presenting the same workshop next Thursday at NextWave’s Agentic AI Leaders Event in partnership with AI Risk and The AI Visionaries Club.

The other speakers include Edward Achtner, former Group Head of AI at HSBC, and Suren Siva, Partner – AI Strategy at NextWave, and NextWave’s Founder & CEO, Tony Clark, who was interviewed by Insurtech’s editorial team. Tony is also the host of the London Fintech Podcast and a thought leader in the industry.

Agentic AI is a hot topic with the prospect of transforming the enterprise by leveraging synthetic workforces. We have a fantastic keynote speaker and will present insights and specific use cases on practical Agentic AI adoption.  The event will also be a great networking opportunity to meet industry peers and learn from firms across the sector.

  1. Personalised digital services provide a competitive edge

Sabine Vanderlinden, CEO and Founder of Alchemy Crew, emphasised the importance of delivering engaging and personalised digital services to increase margins while controlling costs. This involves leveraging AI and data analytics to automate processes, improve underwriting accuracy, and better understand customer needs.

  1. Strategic partnerships driving innovation

The conference underscored the significance of collaborations between insurers and insurtech firms. Such partnerships enable the development of innovative solutions, expand market reach, and enhance operational efficiency, positioning companies to better navigate the evolving insurance landscape.

  1. Operational effectiveness

Chaz Perera, CEO of Roots Automation, noted that pricing alone is no longer a competitive advantage. Insurers must bolster productivity while offering customisation for better client service across claims and underwriting departments, balancing efficiency with personalised customer experiences.

The industry voices at Insurtech made it clear: AI, particularly Agentic AI, is not just the future — it’s rapidly becoming the present. From AI-driven claims automation to fully integrated synthetic teams working alongside human colleagues, the industry is on the cusp of a major transformation. Insurers who embrace these innovations will be best positioned to thrive in our evolving digital landscape.
